Joseph had 4 sons and 2 daughters who enlisted in the Second World War. His son, Sgt. Harvey Dreaver, Regina Rifles Regiment, landed on D-Day and was later killed in action on 6 October 1944 during assault at the Leopold Canal in Belgium.
